Deputy Minister Çam Inspected TİKA’s Projects on Site in the TRNC

During the visit he paid to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to attend some meetings, Serdar Çam, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, inspected the activities carried out and supported by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) in the TRNC.

During the program, Deputy Minister Serdar Çam, TİKA’s President Serkan Kayalar, and the accompanying delegation first visited the Laguna Fishing Port, where the construction project was completed by TİKA and the landscaping project is ongoing.

Then, the delegation inspected the Women’s Training Center of Davlos in Karpas and a Tobacco Processing Plant owned by the Gialousa Tobacco Farmers’ Cooperative, both equipped by TİKA, and received a briefing about production activities.

Later in the program, the delegation visited the Union of Tradesmen and Craftsmen of Trikomo and inspected the “Robotics Coding and Technology Workshop,” built by TİKA.

Lastly, seedlings were planted as part of the project “Aromatic Plant Cultivation,” launched under the leadership of our female entrepreneurs (Entrepreneurial Women's Support Association – GİKAD).

Speaking to press members following a series of visits in the TRNC, Çam stated that every successful initiative in Türkiye also affects the TRNC, and that efforts and initiatives to support the touristic activities of the TRNC and promote its cultural values continue.

Çam noted that thanks to the Presidential Government System, the activities carried out by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Yunus Emre Institute, and TİKA for all Turkic groups and related communities have increased in the last 4-5 years.

TİKA’s President Serkan Kayalar added that TİKA’s projects and support for the TRNC will increase. Kayalar stated that TİKA has 60 offices in 60 countries and is active in more than 150 countries. He said, “We implement projects not only in countries where we have offices, but also in other countries and regions. There is a demand for new TİKA offices in many countries.”
