Second Phase of the Project for the Training of the Staff of the Veterinary Laboratories Affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan Has Been Completed

A technical team from Turkey had meetings, conducted inspections, and shared their observations in Azerbaijan as part of the project launched by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey in order to improve the professional qualifications of the staff of the veterinary laboratories affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan.

As part of the monitoring and evaluation field studies, the second phase of the Project for the Training of the Staff of the Veterinary Laboratories Affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan, carried out by TİKA and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey, a technical team from the Veterinary Control Central Research Institute in Ankara, the General Directorate of Food and Control, and TİKA paid a working visit to Azerbaijan.

During the working visit, the team had meetings, conducted inspections, and shared their observations in Azerbaijan in order to examine the current situation at central and regional veterinary laboratories, observe the effectiveness of the first phase of the training program conducted in Ankara for Azerbaijani specialists, and create a road map for the next phases of the project.

First, specialists from Turkey had an evaluation meeting with the officials of TİKA’s Baku Program Coordination Office and the Agrarian Credit and Development Agency of the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan and exchanged ideas on the activities that have been and will be carried out as part of the project.

After the meeting, the technical team visited the Scientific Research Institute of Veterinary Medicine of Azerbaijan in Baku and received a briefing from the officials of the Institute about the activities, staff, and technical infrastructure of the Institute.

Then, they visited 6 veterinary laboratories in different regions of Azerbaijan and examined the analyses performed in these laboratories and the operational procedures of the laboratories.

After completing their activities in these different regions, the specialists returned to Baku and had a meeting with the officials of the Agrarian Credit and Development Agency of the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan and TİKA. At the meeting, the specialists shared their opinions and suggestions about the activities that can be carried out in the next phases of the project, in line with their observations from the field.
