TİKA Established a Caucasian Jewelry Research Center and Workshop in Georgia

An opening ceremony was held for the Caucasian Jewelry Research Workshop, established by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia.

The opening ceremony was attended by Fatma Ceren Yazgan, Turkey’s Ambassador to Tbilisi; Necla Demirdağ, TİKA’s Tbilisi Coordinator; Nino Andriashvili and Nino Mamulashvili, founders of the Caucasian Culture Research Center; Nino Sanadiradze, General Director of the Union of Museums of Tbilisi; and a large number of invitees.

In her speech after the ribbon-cutting, Ambassador Yazgan stated that she was very happy to attend such an event. Noting that TİKA has implemented highly useful projects in many fields in Georgia for many years, Yazgan stated that the workshop would make a great contribution to the preservation and recognition of the rich culture of the Georgian people and Caucasians in general.

Necla Demirdağ noted that the workshop would help revive the traditional arts of goldsmithing and silversmithing and would provide job opportunities in these fields.

Demirdağ added that with the help of the workshop, they would implement projects for promoting traditional Turkish arts, bringing Turkish and Georgian arts together, and sharing knowledge and experience in this field. Stressing that Georgia has a rich culture, Demirdağ said, “Georgia has been a meeting point for many cultures and civilizations throughout history.”

Nino Sanadiradze, General Director of the Union of Museums of Tbilisi, stated that the workshop was of great importance for the development of the cultural relations between Turkey and Georgia.

Implemented in cooperation with the Caucasian Culture Research Center with the support of TİKA, the project aims to develop traditional goldsmithing, increase its recognition in Georgia and abroad, and preserve the Caucasian Culture, which is part of the world’s cultural legacy. As part of the project, specialists to be invited from Turkey will share their knowledge and experience with their Georgian colleagues through theoretical and practical work on the art of goldsmithing.
