TİKA Helps 2,000 Families in Gaza to Combat the Coronavirus

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) distributed health packages and disinfectants to 2,000 families in need in the Gaza Strip to combat the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Health packages and disinfectants were delivered to 2,000 families in cooperation with “alms committees” in different regions of the Gaza Strip, which is under blockade.

TİKA continues to work on various assistance projects such as providing hearing aids to 30 people with hearing impairment, installing solar panels on the houses of those with special needs, and renovating 13 houses where people with disabilities live.

As per the instructions of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Palestine-Turkey Friendship Hospital in Gaza, which was built by TİKA and is the largest healthcare facility in Palestine, was transferred to the relevant authorities on March 26 to be used as a “temporary quarantine hospital” to combat the COVID-19 outbreak.

The hospital was put into service on March 31.
