TİKA Supports Rural Development in the Region Where Operation Euphrates Shield Was Conducted

As part of the “Artificial Insemination Project,” implemented by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), teams affiliated with the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry of Kilis trained local veterinarians and performed artificial insemination procedures in order to increase the number of female animals in farms in Al-Rai, Mare, and Akhtarin.

TİKA had launched the Artificial Insemination Project in early 2022 in order to improve the health of cows, increase their number, and boost milk production, thereby increasing income, in Al-Rai, Mare, and Akhtarin, cities where Operation Euphrates Shield was conducted.

As part of the project, teams affiliated with the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry of Kilis trained local veterinarians and performed artificial insemination procedures in order to increase the number of female animals in farms owned by farmers who face financial difficulties.

İsmet Abbas, Head of the Local Council of Al-Rai, stated that the support provided for animal husbandry as part of the project encouraged many people to engage in farming and build a life in the region, instead of moving away.
