TİKA’s Ramadan Support for Palestinian Turkmens

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provided support to Turkmen families living in Palestine as part of its Ramadan program.

In honor of Ramadan, TİKA delivered food aid to Turkmens residing in and around the city of Jenin.

The Turkmen population, historically present in Palestine, is estimated to be around 30,000 in the West Bank and 70,000 in Gaza. Most Turkmens sustain their livelihoods through agriculture and animal husbandry. However, following the recent war in Gaza, many have faced unemployment due to the cancellation of work permits in Israel.

During this challenging period, TİKA, in collaboration with the Palestine Turkmen Friendship Association, delivered aid packages containing essential food items to 500 Turkmen families in need. The packages, which included staple foods such as rice, oil, tomato paste, sugar, flour, broad beans, lentils, beans, and jam, helped meet the families’ nutritional needs during Ramadan.

Additionally, TİKA is in the process of establishing five greenhouses as part of its employment and income-generating initiatives for Turkmens. This project aims to provide additional income for the Turkmen Association and create job opportunities for 15 young Turkmens.

TİKA remains committed to supporting Turkmens in Palestine and contributing to their economic and social development in the region.
