18 March 2025“Akkar – Kobayat Sports Complex Opens with the Support of TİKA”
With the support of Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), the Akkar – Kobayat Outdoor Sports Complex in Lebanon now provides sports opportunities for the youth in the region.
The complex, constructed by TİKA, was inaugurated with a ceremony attended by approximately 50 guests, including the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Beirut, Murat Lütem; Kobayat MP, Jimmy Jabbour; Mayor of Kobayat, Abdo Makhoul Abdo; Director of St. Doumit Monastery and School, Raymond Abdo; and President of the Lebanese Scout Society Kobayat, John Karam.
The project aims to create a public space in Kobayat where children and young people can engage in sports, featuring a basketball court, seating areas, and designated training zones.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ambassador Lütem highlighted the historical and cultural significance of Kobayat and stated that the sports complex will help foster team spirit and promote healthy living habits among the youth. MP Jabbour emphasized that the project strengthens social cohesion by increasing young people’s interest in sports.
With this new facility, not only school students but also all children and youth from Kobayat will have the opportunity to participate in team sports such as basketball, volleyball, and football. The Akkar – Kobayat Outdoor Sports Complex, completed with the support of TİKA, will serve as a vital social and sports hub for the local community.
