27 July 2021251 Linden Trees Have Been Planted in Albania in Memory of the Martyrs of July 15
Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency and Tirana Municipality planted 251 linden trees donated by TİKA in memory of the martyrs of July 15 at the event held in Tirana, the capital of Albania, on the occasion of the anniversary of FETÖ’s treacherous coup attempt.
The event held in Kashar, Tirana, was attended by Murat Ahmet Yörük, Turkey’s Ambassador to Tirana; Erion Veliaj, Mayor of Tirana; and Emine Gizem Başkan, TİKA’s Tirana Coordinator.
Speaking to an AA reporter, Ambassador Yörük noted that terrorists of FETÖ attempted to stage a coup to overthrow the democratic and constitutional order in Turkey five years ago, on the night of July 15. He said, “Upon the call of our President and as a result of his determined attitude, millions of citizens took to the streets that night and put down the coup attempt with their bare bodies and bare hands in different parts of Turkey.” Underlining that these people taught the whole world a very important lesson on democracy and fight for independence, Yörük said, “They sacrificed their lives without hesitation in order to protect the unity and integrity of their homeland, state, and flag. In fact, people of Albanian origin living in Turkey were also among the millions of citizens who took to the streets that night.”
Mayor Veliaj thanked Ambassador Yörük and Emine Gizem Başkan, TİKA’s Tirana Coordinator, and stressed that both were good friends of Tirana. He said, “I am proud that 251 linden trees have been donated to Tirana to celebrate an important day for Turkish democracy.”
