As part of the “Erenler Sofrası” Ramadan Program which is carried out by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) in 2021, food packages were provided for 300 families in Port of Spain, the capital of Trinidad and Tobago.
In cooperation with the Anjuman Sunnat-ul-Jamaat Association (ASJA), TİKA handed over 300 food packages to the leaders of six different Muslim communities in Port of Spain to be delivered to the needy people. The handover ceremony was attended by Bengü Yiğitgüden, Ambassador of Turkey in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
In his speech at the ceremony, the ASJA Secretary General Rahimool Hosein thanked TİKA and said: “First of all, on behalf of ASJA, I'd like to express my utmost gratitude to TİKA for the 2021 Ramadan Project. We hope this will be the beginning of a close relationship with you and therefore the Turkish Government. We'd also like to thank Bengü Yiğitgüden, Ambassador of Turkey in Trinidad and Tobago, for her support. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions in our country, we'll hand the packages over to the leaders of the six regions to be delivered to the people. We hope we can cooperate in similar projects in the future and take part in them.”
