Support For The Production Sectors In Tunisia Continues

The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency Directorate continues to support the production sectors in Tunisia which continued projects. Work has been started to establish a ‘Textile Workshop’ for the purpose of helping unemployed women gain a profession and provide employment, through cooperation with the nongovernmental organization Amal. The project aims to help unemployed women in underdeveloped areas gain a profession and achieve regular employment.

Among the basic expectations generated after the ‘Jasmine Revolution’ in Tunisia, are the application of vocational programs aimed particularly at the most needed production sectors and projects aimed at increasing employment among women. In order to address these expectations and provide support to the production sector, a project committee comprised of TİKA officials, the Amal Foundation President and sector experts completed a study to determine the technical materials needed and the vocational training to be provided in the textile workshop and continuous education center.

With the ‘Textile Workshop’ project to be used as a continuous education center by the nongovernmental organization Amal Foundation, which is active in Tunisia especially in projects directed at women, 50 women who have no source of income will be provided with regular employment.

All of the equipment needed for the Textile Workshop, which will contribute greatly to the reduction of unemployment in the underdeveloped areas of Tunisia and provide support to the small scale production sectors in the textile industry, will be provided by TİKA. It will be possible for the Textile Workshop to be used in line with the expectations of nongovernmental organizations, which apply projects and programs towards women, as a continuous education center and for vocational courses to be held in well equipped workshops.

The TİKA projects which started in 2012 to support administrative and civilian infrastructure continue to vary with support of social and educational infrastructure, material-equipment support towards improving production sectors, capacity expansion and vocational training and technical cooperation programs especially in the security, health and agriculture sectors.
