The bridge and road project, which was completed by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) in Myanmar’s Bago Region, Magyikwin Village, was inaugurated.
TİKA continues to implement new projects in Myanmar. In this context, the bridge and road project completed by TİKA in Myanmar’s Bago Region, Magyikwin Village was inaugurated. In addition to the bridge that will provide access to the main road for the people of the region, a passenger stop for intercity passengers was also built.
The inauguration ceremony that took place was a festive occasion with the traditional dances of the villagers. In Bago region, around 4000 people live in the eight villages located in Tharwarddy District. The bridge and the road that connect the eight villages, which mostly engage in agriculture and livestock, to Yangon-Pyay highway are of vital importance for the villagers. Last year, as the water level rose in the monsoon season, the villagers faced difficult times and could not go to the city. Now, thanks to the bridge, they will be able to go on with their daily lives.
In the ceremony, Magyikwin Village Head Ko Nay Zar Htun said, “Soon the dry season will be upon us, this year we are expecting a good harvest. Thanks to the bridge, we will be able to take our product to the city to sell them; and the students who want to attend high school can do so without difficulty to access the high school in the Bago District. We are grateful to TİKA for its contributions.”
Last year, as part of its rural development program, TİKA built a100-student capacity preschool in the village of Magyikwin.
