TİKA Established Five Water Treatment Plants in Three Different Cities of Pakistan

In order to provide access to clean water, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) established five water treatment plants in Lahore, Faisalabad and Islamabad, which are among the largest cities of Pakistan, and opened the plant founded with the cooperation of TİKA and Al-Khidmat Foundation in Lahore with a ceremony.

Turkish Ambassador to Islamabad İhsan Mustafa Yurdakul, President of Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority Dr. Shakeel Khan, Lahore Water and Sanitation Agency General Manager Syed Zahid Aziz, TİKA Islamabad Coordinator Gökhan Umut and Al-Khidmat Foundation representatives attended the opening ceremony held in Lahore, Faisalabad and Islamabad, the largest cities of Punjab where is the country's largest province.

In his speech, Ambassador Yurdakul expressed his satisfaction by stating that TİKA has contributed greatly to the relations between the two countries through its activities.

President of Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority, Dr. Shakeel Khan, expressed his satisfaction with the support given by Turkey and TİKA regarding access to clean water, which is the most critical problem in Pakistan. Khan requested the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority, which is the largest state authority in the Punjab State on access to clean water, and TİKA.

Lahore Water and Sanitation Agency General Manager Syed Zahid Aziz stated that access to clean water in Lahore is getting more difficult and pointed out that the plants that had been established meet their needs.

TİKA Islamabad Coordinator Gökhan Umut stated that as Agency, they are aware of the importance of accessing clean potable water in Pakistan and wished the project to be beneficial.

Each established plant has an average water purification capacity of 2,000 liters per hour.
