TİKA Promotes Turkey in the International Migrants Festival in Colombia

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) shared the activities that Turkey carries out about migrants in the International Migrants Festival in Colombia.

Photos and video presentations showing the international aid provided for migrants by Turkey, which hosts the highest number of migrants in the world, were exhibited in TİKA stand at the festival, which was the final program of the “International Migrants Week” event organized by Bogota Metropolitan Municipality in the capital city of Colombia, Bogota. The festival, which aims to raise awareness in order to prevent racist and alienating discourses and behaviors towards migrants, included cultural and artistic activities, dance performances and gastronomic product offerings.

The trainees participating in the Turkish Language and Culture program organized by TİKA in Bogota shared Turkey’s aids and activities for migrants with the Colombian and international delegates and participants. Visitors showed great interest in Turkish local foods like baklava, lentil meatballs and walnut pastry offered at TİKA stand.

Visiting the festival area consisting of the stands of the Turkish, Brazilian, Ecuadorian, Australian and Bolivian embassies and NGOs, Turkish Ambassador to Bogota Ece Öztürk pointed out the importance of raising awareness on the issue of migrants in the international community. Öztürk said, “TİKA, which is the international cooperation and coordination agency of our country, sets an example with the projects implemented for migrants in South America and all around the world.”

Within the scope of the festival, a mini-concert was performed by the trainees, who participated in the ‘Turkish Language and Culture’ program of TİKA in Santander Park.
