01 December 2020TİKA Renovated a Girls’ School in Pakistan
Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) renovated a girls’ school in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan.
A ceremony was held for the renovated school, which is located in the neighborhood of Alipur in the capital, Islamabad, has 237 female students, and is affiliated with the Ministry of Education of Pakistan.
The ceremony was attended by Turkey’s Ambassador to Islamabad İhsan Mustafa Yurdakul, Former Chief of Naval Staff of the Pakistan Navy Admiral M. Asıf Sandila, TİKA’s Islamabad Coordinator Gökhan Umut, students, teachers, and a large number of invitees.
Yurdakul and Sandila visited the renovated classrooms, received information about the school, and talked to the students. In his speech, Yurdakul stated that they would always strive to meet Pakistan’s needs in the fields of education and social development and that TİKA would continue to implement such projects. Noting that he could see the happiness in children’s eyes as he visited the renovated school and classrooms, Yurdakul said, “We are happy as long as they are happy.”
TİKA’s Islamabad Coordinator Umut stated that TİKA has carried out many activities in various fields, including education, in Pakistan. Noting that nearly 60 percent of the population is under the age of 30 in Pakistan, Umut said that one of TİKA’s main goals is to integrate young people into formal education and encourage them to receive vocational training to improve their skills. Stressing that they support education in two ways, Umut said, “On the one hand, we improve the physical environment of schools. On the other hand, we improve the quality of education.” Umut noted that TİKA renovated Alipur Girls’ School in cooperation with the Ministry of Education of Pakistan and the Moawin Foundation.
Admiral Sandila, Former Chief of Naval Staff of the Pakistan Navy, thanked TİKA for its efforts.
