20 October 2021TİKA Sets Up a Sensory Room at Mexican Rehabilitation Center
Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) set up a Sensory Development Education Room for children who went to Mexico's National System for Integral Family Development's (DIF) Academic Centers for Child Development.
TİKA has opened the first of 10 Sensory Rooms to be established in different states of Mexico, in cooperation with Mexico's National System for Integral Family Development (DIF). The project's education center in the Mexican states of Chiapas, Guanajuato, Hidalgo, Jalisco and Nuevo León will help children between the ages of 1 and 6 who go to Academic Centers for Child Development (CADI) gain early sensory-emotional experiences and develop their mental health.
TİKA provided materials such as didactic books, stimulating furnitures for early childhood, computers, projectors, textured materials, puppet theatre, painting materials, and musical toys for the game activities to take place in the Sensory Rooms. TİKA gave training to 109 teachers gathered by Mexico's National System for Integral Family Development (DIF) to be in charge of each room's adaptation with the help of the provided materials and to manage activities in the rooms.
President of Mexico's National System for Integral Family Development (DIF) María del Rocío García Pérez stated in her speech at the opening ceremony that the project which was approved and financed by TİKA aimed to be an innovative methodology that influences all child care areas. Adding that children will develop their capacities by using technological tools and infrastructure, Pérez stated that the education room will contribute to children's social skills such as cooperation, problem solving, creativity, empathy, communication and teamwork.
On the other hand, TİKA's Mexico Coordinator Fatih Abdi Çetin mentioned that in addition to contributing to DIF's activities throughout Mexico, they will establish 10 new education halls in various Mexican states, and highlighted the importance of this support for needy children's development.
