Farmers engaged in beekeeping in the zone of Operation Euphrates Shield in Northern Syria were supported and provided with Central Anatolian bees with support from the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA).
TİKA continues to develop projects aiming to increase the production capacity in areas, where security is ensured, in the zone of Operation Euphrates Shield in Northern Syria.
In cooperation with TİKA, the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry of Kilis, and the Local Council of Çobanbey, works designed for the increase of food security, which is one of the critical components of rural development, and of the income of farmers without land are being carried out.
As a part of the conducted efforts, farmers engaged in beekeeping were supported and provided with Central Anatolian bees, which are one of the most resilient bee breeds known especially for their ability to adapt to changing climate conditions and to be efficient in challenging conditions.
The project aims to contribute to an increase in local production and the expansion of the honey market in the region by providing economic opportunities to the farmers in the region.
