TİKA Supports Elderly and Disabled People in the Philippines

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) has provided Moro people in need, especially elderly and disabled people in Marawi, the Philippines with medical equipment.

Muslims of Marawi were forced to abandon the region in the wake of the civil war started by the DAESH-linked Maute and Abu Sayyaf Salafi terrorist organizations in 2017. People began returning their home after the end of the conflicts which lasted five months and almost halted the life.

Elderly people and people with physical disabilities are most affected by this process in the Philippines which is trying to pick up the pieces after saved from DAESH. Within this scope, TİKA granted wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, orthopedic walking sticks, blood pressure monitors, and nebulizers to people in need in Marawi and surroundings where living conditions are difficult.

Moro people said the medical equipment support would facilitate the lives of the elderly and disabled people in need and innocent civilians who became disabled during the clashes and thanked TİKA for their support.
