04 July 2019TİKA Supports Energy Efficiency Training
Third Country Training Program on “Energy Efficiency and Management in Industry and Buildings”, organized regularly since 2011 as a joint project by TİKA, JICA and the Energy Efficiency and Environment Department of Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, has been conducted in Ankara between 17 – 28 June this year.
TİKA is increasingly supporting skills development and knowledge transfer in new technologies in various sectors. Within this context, this training program aims at improving the skills of the participating energy professionals from western and central Asia, eastern Europe and the Black Sea regions in terms of energy efficiency-related knowledge and study techniques as well as contributing to efficient energy use and reducing CO2 emmission and encouraging relevant organisations to determine and adapt viable opportunities in the way of reducing energy costs.
The program started with the opening ceremony where Uğur TANYELİ, head of TİKA’s External Relations and Partnerships Department, Dr. Oğuz CAN, head of the Energy Efficiency and Environment Department and Hideaki MATSUOKA, Senior Representative of JICA Turkey Office were present. For the following two weeks 18 experts from 13 countries (Albania, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kosova, Kyrgyzstan, North Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Pakistan, Sırbia, Ukraine and Romania) received theoretical and practical training at the Energy Efficiency Implementation and Training Center in Ankara and conducted site visits in Manisa and İzmir in order to observe good practices in buildings and industrial production plants.
“Energy Efficiency and Management in Industry and Buildings” Training Program was first launched in 2003 with the collaboration between the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and JICA, and gained strength when TİKA joined as the third partner in 2011. Making it possible to transfer Turkey’s experience in energy efficiency to our development partners, this Project is a very good example of triangular cooperation.
