TİKA Supports Tourism in Tajikistan
Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) built a Tour Guiding Training Center within the Department of Tourism at Russian-Tajik Slavonic University in Tajikistan.
In Tajikistan, many activities are carried out to develop tourism, one of the most prominent industries in recent years. In this context, the National Tourism Strategy Program (2021-2025) was published in Tajikistan, and various activities were launched for the development of tourism in the country as part of this program. However, there were significant deficiencies in professional guiding services, one of the most important areas in the tourism industry in Tajikistan.
As part of the project it implemented to eliminate these deficiencies, TİKA built and equipped the Tour Guiding Training Center within the Department of Tourism at Russian-Tajik Slavonic University in Tajikistan in order to improve the quality of professional guiding services, one of the most important components of tourism, and to contribute to meeting the needs in this area. It is aimed to train nearly 70 Tourist Guides every year at the center, where theoretical and applied training on professional guiding will be provided.
The first applied course, which was held at the University’s practice center in Romit, was attended by İbrahim ERBİR, TİKA’s Dushanbe Coordinator; Rector of Russian-Tajik Slavonic University; Rector of the Tajikistan Branch of Moscow State University; employees of the Turkish Embassy in Dushanbe; TÖMER’s Tajikistan Director; and students.
Established in 1996, Russian-Tajik Slavonic University is one of the most prestigious higher education institutions in Tajikistan. Nearly 7,000 undergraduate, graduate, and PhD students study in 35 different departments in 6 faculties at the university.
