Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) supplied winter uniforms for veterinarians in Mongolia.
As part of the project, TİKA supplied winter uniforms for 700 veterinarians who work in 21 provinces and 331 districts across Mongolia.
The most important livelihood is animal husbandry in Mongolia where many animals are said to have died in recent years due to heavy winter conditions.
Animal husbandry is one of the most important sectors for the national economy in Mongolia as there are approximately 60 million animals in the country. Developing the animal husbandry sector, increasing the added-value from animal husbandry, exporting meat and meat products are of great importance for the national economy.
Citizens who want to graze their animals easily and do not have homes in the city centers lead a nomadic life. TİKA implemented a project for veterinarians in order to ensure that veterinarians can work safely and healthfully in the country where severe winter conditions prevail.
Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry of Mongolia, Ulaan Chultem, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Ulaanbaatar, Ahmet Yazal, Undersecretary of the Ministry, Jambaltseren Tumuruya, and Provincial Veterinary General Directors attended the delivery ceremony held at the Ministry building.
In his speech, Minister Chultem stated that they have been in cooperation with TİKA for many years and the project to supply winter uniforms for veterinarians is very important for them. Noting that they hope to continue this cooperation in the coming years, Chultem extended his thanks to TİKA and Turkey on this occasion.
Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Ulaanbaatar, Ahmet Yazal stressed that they are open to cooperation for the development of trade between Mongolia and Turkey, particularly in the field of animal husbandry.
Directorate-General for Veterinary Services was established by the Ministry of Food, Rural Affairs and Light Industry in 21 provinces and 331 districts after the Law on Animal Health and Veterinary Surgeons entered into force in Mongolia on 01.06.2018. Veterinarians carry out activities throughout the country to protect animal health, take measures against infectious diseases, and ensure the sustainability of veterinary services.
