Emergency Humanitarian Aid from TİKA to Lebanon

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) has initiated emergency aid efforts in response to the humanitarian crisis in Lebanon following the airstrikes that began on September 23, 2024.

As a wave of migration occurs, particularly from the southern cities of Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley to Beirut and the northern regions, the Lebanese government has declared a state of emergency and decided to utilize schools and public facilities to accommodate the sheltering needs of displaced citizens.

TİKA continues to support regions in need during this challenging time. In this context, 4,000 beds, blankets and 5 tons of hygiene supplies have been distributed.

TİKA, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Beirut and more than 30 Lebanese public institutions and civil society organizations, jointly distributed humanitarian aid materials across various regions of the country.

TİKA’s assistance also reached Turkmens living in Northern Lebanon, Syrian Turkmens in Lebanon, Mardin-origin compatriots in Beirut and Palestinian refugees residing in camps.

TİKA did not forget its stakeholders with whom it had previously collaborated on projects. In this context, humanitarian aid supplies were provided to the Bir Hassan Tourism Vocational High School, which has been converted into a shelter center, and to the Beirut Hassan Khaled High School, which continues its educational activities in the building of the Ottoman-era Beirut Military Middle School.
