TİKA Supports Flood Victims in Bosnia and Herzegovina During Ramadan

As part of its Ramadan program, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) organized a food distribution and iftar program for flood victims in Jablanica, located in the south of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In collaboration with the District Mufti’s Office of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, TİKA provided food packages to those affected by the devastating floods that struck Jablanica in October 2024. Following the distribution, 250 flood victims were welcomed to share an iftar meal prepared by TİKA.

Ekrem Hodžić, Chief Imam of Jablanica; Emir Muratović, Mayor of Jablanica; Dursun Ali Yaşacan, Head of TİKA’s East and South Asia, Pacific and Latin America Department; Erdinç Işık, TİKA’s Coordinator in Sarajevo; consultants from the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Sarajevo and representatives of the institution attended the iftar program.

Speaking at the event, TİKA Head of Department Yaşacan offered his condolences to those who lost their lives in the flood disaster and expressed his happiness at sharing an iftar meal with Bosniak brothers and sisters in the spirit of Ramadan.

On October 4, 2024, a devastating flood struck Bosnia and Herzegovina, claiming the lives of 29 people and affecting five cities, particularly Konjic and Jablanica. TİKA was the first international organization to respond to the disaster.

Throughout Ramadan, TİKA will continue to distribute food aid packages to 1,600 people in need across Bosnia and Herzegovina with a special focus on flood victims, families returning to their homes after the war, and women affected by domestic violence.
