TİKA Supports Turkish and Tatar Families Affected by Floods in Romania

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) extended Türkiye’s helping hand to the Turkish and Tatar communities who were impacted by the flood disaster in Amzacea, Constanta, Romania.

Romania is continuing its efforts to recover from the flood disaster that struck the town of Amzacea in Constanta on August 31, impacting around 60 households.

Due to excessive rainfall, the water channel in the town of Amzacea overflowed, leading to a regional flood disaster. Although there was no loss of life in the town, which saw 300 liters of rainfall per square meter within 48 hours, material damage affected approximately 40 households, including those of the Turkish and Tatar communities.

Families affected by the flood disaster in Amzacea, where Turks and Tatars make up approximately 15% of the population, were visited by TİKA officials. The agency replaced the damaged white goods and furniture of 15 families with new items. Additionally, construction materials were provided to assist with repairing their homes.

A total of 20 tons of construction materials, along with 11 washing machines, 4 refrigerators, 21 beds and 14 cabinets, were provided.

The delivery program in Amzacea was attended by current Mayor Romică Stan, incoming Mayor Adrian Gobeaja, who will assume office in November, and the Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye, Ozan Çakır.

800 aid packages delivered to those in need
