18 July 2025TİKA Supports the Visually Impaired in Jerusalem
Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) has launched an important project to support visually impaired individuals in the Palestinian city of Jerusalem.
With TİKA’s assistance, technical equipment and educational materials were provided to the Nour Al-Ain Association for the Visually Impaired and Low Vision, helping to improve the quality of life for those with visual impairments.
Established in 2005, the Nour Al-Ain Association has been serving approximately 500 visually impaired individuals in Jerusalem, offering a wide range of services from education and personal development to vocational training and social integration. Under the scope of the project supported by TİKA, the association received white canes, audio and video magnifiers, computers and printers, a music mixer and various office equipment.
The initiative aims to empower visually impaired individuals by helping them continue their education, engage more actively in social life and combat societal prejudice. It also encourages greater independence and self-confidence among participants.
Year-round vocational training and social activities
The Nour Al-Ain Association offers consistent support to the visually impaired through regular courses in computer literacy, planning and mobility, as well as social events and summer camps. Strengthened by TİKA’s contributions, these efforts positively impact not only the individuals themselves but also their families.
TİKA continues to provide sustainable support for development in the region through projects that promote access to education, employment and social participation for people with disabilities across Palestine.
