18 May 2022Support from TİKA to Women’s Employment in Cameroon
Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) organized professional training courses for Cameroonian women with the cooperation of CEFAP Ladies Circle.
33 Cameroonian women participated in diverse courses for 6 months and acquired professional talents. The participants took theoretical and practical classes in the trainings held in the capital city, Yaounde.
The participants were given practical classes on needlecraft, fabric painting, hairdressing, informatics, kitchen and handicraft. The participants who passed the classes received their certificates with a ceremony.
Volkan Işıkçı, the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye, Burak Özden, TİKA Yaounde Coordinator, representatives from the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Family, the Ministry of Employment and Professional Training and CEFAP Ladies Circle participated in the ceremony.
Ambassador Işıkçı said he was impressed by the variety of trainings. He congratulated the participants and wished them success.
Coordinator Özden said they were very happy to have contributed to women’s socio-economic development in Cameron and added they would continue to carry out projects to empower women.
Demgne Kamdem, who attended hairdressing and makeup trainings, said she used to stay with her mother and had no income to look after her child, but after the trainings, she can now stand on her own feet and make the money to look after her child. Kamdem thanked TİKA for this.
