TİKA Renovated the Laboratories of the Secondary School in Nigeria

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provided materials and renovated the physics, chemistry, biology and home economics laboratories at Wuse Zone 3 State Secondary School in Abuja.

The laboratories renovated by TİKA in the state secondary school were opened for service with a ceremony. Turkey's Ambassador to Abuja Hidayet Bayraktar, Head of TİKA Middle East and Africa Department Bülent Korkmaz and officials, teachers, students and many guests attended the opening ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Turkey's Ambassador to Abuja Hidayet Bayraktar stated that Turkey and the Turkish people have always stood by Africans and said, "The cultural and human-to-human bridges we have built bring us together around the common denominator of humanity."

"Education Will Be One of the Most Powerful Elements in Africa's Development"

Pointing out that education will be one of the most powerful elements for the development of Africa, Bayraktar said that education is generally perceived as a transformative role in achieving the goals in political agendas. Bayraktar stated that Turkey supports every attempt to increase levels of education, which is the key to realizing human potential. Pointing out that while the ties between Turkey and Africa are getting stronger, Turkish institutions and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) play a leading role in the field of education, Bayraktar said, "The Turkish Maarif Foundation provides education to more than 17 thousand students in 175 institutes in 25 countries in Africa. Last month, Turkish NGOs opened 2 new schools in Abuja."

Angela Amarachi, one of the students, said that they fell behind in classes because the laboratories of the school hadn't been equipped enough. Amarachi also stated that she felt happy with the renovated laboratories and thanked Turkey, TİKA and the Turkish people.
