TİKA Establishes Pet Clinic in Pakistan

The “Pet Clinic”, established within the Rawalpindi Animal Husbandry Directorate by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), was inaugurated.

TİKA’s Vice President, Dr. Ümit Naci Yorulmaz; the President of Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council, Prof. Masood Rabbani; TİKA’s Coordinator in Islamabad, Muhsin Balcı; the Director of the Rawalpindi Animal Husbandry Directorate, Naveed Seher, and the clinic staff attended the opening ceremony of the Rawalpindi Pet Clinic.

Expressing his appreciation with the Pet Clinic, TİKA’s Vice President Yorulmaz highlighted the importance of improving veterinary medical services, not only for animals’ welfare but also for public health.

Yorulmaz said, “Aiming at addressing various health issues faced by pets and providing preventive care, the clinic will contribute to the general health ecosystem.”

The president of Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council, Rabbani stated that the clinic is the first public pet clinic in the twin cities Islamabad and Rawalpindi. He also said, “The clinic will play a critical role in promoting responsible pet ownership and improving the life quality of pets by offering accessible and affordable veterinary services.”

Rabbani expressed that pet owners do not prefer private veterinary clinics that demand high fees to benefit from basic healthcare services. He also noted that there is a serious health risk for pets treated by non-experts instead of authorized private veterinarians, and many animals suffer accidents and injuries every day due to lack of medical care.

Expressing his gratitude to Turkish people for TİKA’s effective projects in animal husbandry, Rabbani stated that the clinic will provide services to an average of 70-80 pets daily in the forthcoming days.
