07 February 2024Veraval Turk Community’s Schools in Pakistan, Renovated by TİKA, Are Now Open
The primary and secondary schools belonging to the Veraval Turk Community in Pakistan, renovated by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), have been opened.
The opening ceremony of the primary and secondary schools belonging to the Veraval Turk Community took place with the participation of Province of Sindh Minister of Education, Rana Hussain; Türkiye’s Consul General to Karachi, Cemal Sangu; TİKA’s Coordinator in Karachi, Halil İbrahim Başaran and various other guests.
TİKA carried out the renovation of the required parts of two schools, whose capacities were increased through the construction of additional buildings, the renewal of school furniture and the computer lab, the establishment of a science lab and a library and the installation of solar energy panels.
During her speech at the opening ceremony, Sindh Minister of Education, Hussain, stated that she admired the renovated school classrooms and found them interactive.
Stating that such an environment would contribute to students’ development, Hussain extended gratitude to TİKA and Türkiye for their assistance.
Türkiye’s Consul General to Karachi, Sangu, stated that Türkiye has always supported and given importance to education. He added, “In this context, we have 28 schools in Pakistan, all belonging to the Turkish Maarif Foundation. I am fully glad to inaugurate these two schools of the Veraval Turk Community, which were renovated and equipped with modern materials by TİKA.”
TİKA’s Coordinator in Karachi, Başaran, also emphasized that TİKA has carried out nearly 30 projects in the education sector in the provinces of Sindh and Balochistan between 2019 and 2023, underlining that the schools belonging to the Veraval Turk Community are also part of these projects.
Başaran stated that they will continue to carry out development projects in the education sector in cooperation with the Sindh Ministry of Education, and also fortify the bond of friendship and brotherhood between Pakistan and Türkiye.
Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, led by Minister Hussain and Consul General Sangu, the class bell rang, marking the beginning of education for nearly 500 students in their renovated schools.
TİKA has been contributing to Pakistan’s educational development since 2010 through the projects it has implemented with its two offices in the country.
