18 April 2024TİKA Continues to Support Afghanistan’s Educational Infrastructure
Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provided 600 sets of desks and chairs to public schools in four provinces of Afghanistan.
Within the education projects that TİKA has been implementing in Afghanistan, desks and chairs have been provided to schools in the provinces of Balkh, Samangan, Takhar and Sar-e Pol.
Mazar-i-Sharif Provincial Director of Education, Hafız Muhammed Naim Belhi; TİKA’s Coordinator in Mazar-i-Sharif, Mikail Taşdemir, school principals, teachers and students attended the delivery ceremony held at Sultan Mahmood Ghaznavi Primary School in Mazar-i-Sharif.
Speaking at the delivery ceremony, Mazar-i-Sharif Provincial Director of Education, Belhi stated that students will no longer have to study sitting on the floor but will have desks to use thanks to the support provided by TİKA to their schools.
TİKA’s Coordinator in Mazar-i-Sharif, Taşdemir noted that TİKA has completed construction, equipment, renovation and repair work for nearly 200 schools, institutions and education centers across Afghanistan. Taşdemir also expressed that some other schools will also be renovated and repaired this year.
In 2023, TİKA provided 800 sets of desks and chairs to schools that are continuing their educational activities in 9 provinces in northern Afghanistan.
