The “Sustainable Beekeeping Development Program – Queen Bee and Royal Jelly Production Training in Kosovo”, organized for beekeepers in Pristina, the capital of Kosovo, by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), has been completed.
TİKA’s Coordinator in Pristina, Fulya Aslan; the President of the Kosovo Beekeepers’ Association, Süleyman Zogyani, trainers and beekeepers attended the certificate ceremony of the training program, organized in cooperation between TİKA, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Kosovo Beekeepers’ Association.
Speaking at the ceremony, TİKA’s Coordinator in Pristina, Aslan expressed that the trainings they provided will increase production quality and prevent the entry of diseases and parasites into the region.
Aslan stated that Kosovo has wonderful climatic conditions and flora, and they aim to increase product diversity through royal jelly production training. She said, “We provided training on queen bee raising to 17 beekeepers and on royal jelly production to 11 women beekeepers. We aimed to teach beekeepers how to raise their own bees with modern techniques instead of relying on imported queen bees from abroad.”
Noting that the program empowered women and enabled them to contribute to the production sector, Aslan stated that they aim to implement similar trainings in the upcoming period.
The President of the Beekeepers’ Association, Zogyani emphasized that the training is of great importance and Kosovo is in need of such support. Expressing his belief that this training will prevent the entry of fake and imported queen bees into the country, Zogyani said, “I believe that Kosovar beekeepers will have the opportunity to raise both quality and domestic queen bees through this project.”
The ceremony ended with the presentation of certificates to the participants who successfully completed in the 10-day training.
